United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo Executive Director, Cecilia Mutch, to retire in June
The United Way of Fort McMurray Board of Directors has accepted the retirement notification of Cecilia Mutch, the organization’s Executive Director, effective June 2019.
“It is with sincere gratitude and mixed emotions that we announce the upcoming retirement of Cecilia Mutch” said Steve Yatauro, President. “We will be working closely with Cecilia and United Way staff to ensure a smooth transition. Succession planning is an integral part of our strategic planning process. We are in a strong position to move forward and begin looking for the right leader to continue the momentum created by Cecilia and her team.”
“Cecilia has led the United Way through a period of significant change in our community over the past three years. She has been instrumental in leading the organization to become more effective and innovative, strengthening our ability to create impact in the communities we serve. Cecilia has placed a strong value on collaboration and, in the past year, entered into a historic collaboration to help strengthen the social profit sector of Wood Buffalo by working to coordinate efforts within the region in conjunction with FuseSocial and the Wood Buffalo Community Foundation. Cecilia also ensured the United Way continues to enjoy a great relationship with the Canadian Red Cross during the last three years postwildfire. We are grateful for this partnership. In this past year, Cecilia led the organization in taking the giant step to change the name to reflect the community we serve. The United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo will broaden our reach into the wider Wood Buffalo community.”
Cecilia came to the United Way of Fort McMurray in November of 2016 following a successful career in senior leadership roles with industry and healthcare. During her tenure, Cecilia has led the organization through a coordinated response to supporting many social profit organizations post the wildfire. She has worked tirelessly to implement improved donor stewardship programs and ensure appropriate focus and effort has been applied to moving United Ways strategic goals forward.
“We cannot thank Cecilia enough for her passion, vision, and strategic leadership she has provided the United Way Fort McMurray and Wood Buffalo over the last three years. We congratulate Cecilia on her retirement and wish her and her husband, Doug, all the best,” said Steve Yatauro.
The Human Resources Sub-Committee of the Board will begin the recruitment process immediately.
