Scott returns to United Way Board

The President of the Board of Directors of The United Way of Fort McMurray has announced the appointment of Don Scott to the organization’s governing body.

“We are delighted that Don has accepted our invitation to return to the Board,” said Ben Dutton. “He brings a wealth of knowledge to the United Way and a passion for the social profit sector.”

A former provincial MLA, Minister and municipal Councillor, Scott recently opened Don Scott Law Office and is eager to continue helping to build a stronger community. He served on the United Way Board for over six years and volunteered on the Community Investment Committee. He also served as President before getting elected to public office.

“Contributing to the United Way team has been one of the most meaningful parts of my life,” he said. “It’s how I understood the community and met so many people who want to make it better.”

“Don understands the social profit sector in a way that makes him an outstanding choice to join the Board,” said Diane Shannon, Executive Director. “He is an effective champion of this Region and brings a number of valuable perspectives to the Board that will strengthen our organization and the many agencies that we fund.”

Don Scott has been appointed for a three year term that starts immediately.
