Community Campaign hits 41%

The momentum of the United Way Community Campaign is building with significant progress being made this week on the fundraising goal.

“We have jumped from 28 percent to 41 percent in just the last three days,” said Andy Carter, Community Campaign Chair.

“Workplace campaigns are doing multiple raffles, 50/50 draws, bake sales and various other special events which are adding to the enthusiasm and awareness about the campaign. Plus, hundreds of volunteer canvassers are talking to co-workers about why giving to the United Way is so important to building a stronger, more resilient community. We thank everyone for their generosity of both spirit and dollars.”

The goal of the 2014 Community Campaign is $8 million. And while the 10-week campaign winds down by mid-November, donations are expected to keep pouring in well into December.

“We are hoping to make an exciting announcement about our fundraising goal at our VIP Red Carpet Reception on November 18th,” said Diane Shannon, Executive Director. “This is the evening when we honour our volunteers who do such a great job raising funds and excitement about the Community Campaign.”
