Fort McMurray, AB Monday, October 3rd, 2011-- The United Way of Fort McMurray thermometres are starting to rise as the United Way has reached the 20 per cent mark of the $7.5 million goal!
The Community Campaign kicked off just over three weeks ago with a pep rally and pancake breakfast at MacDonald Island Park, and that energy clearly has not died down.
"We're really excited that the campaign is starting to gain momentum," said Executive Director Diane Shannon. "It's a big goal, and it's going to take the effort of our whole community to reach it, but we know it can be done."
The Community Campaign run September 9th to November 18th, 2011.
The United Way supports more than 60 local programs and is involved in a variety of community impact projects. The 2010 campaign was the fifth consecutive year that Fort McMurray gave more per capita than any other Canadian United Way.
Our Mission: To improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
