Fort McMurray, AB   Monday, August 8, 2011--  United Way of Fort McMurray is pleased to announce that Executive Director Diane Shannon has been apponted to the Alberta Nonprofit/Voluntary Sector Initiative (ANVSI) Collaboration Committtee.

ANVSI's mandate is to facilitate collaboration between the Government of Alberta and the not-for-profit sector in building healthy, active and sustainable communities. The committee is organized through Alberta Culture and Community Spirit and has a standing maximum of 22 members (balanced between members of the not-for-profit sector and Government of Alberta staff).

Shannon said she was honoured to recieve the written notice of her appointment from Minister Lindsay Blackett.

"United Way of Fort McMurray works every day to build a sustainable future for our community and for the not-for-profit sector," said Shannon. "It's a pleasure and a privilege to be part of this initiative, where we have to opportunity to assist in the positive social development of our province."
