United Way of Fort McMurray Hires Executive Director

The Board of Directors of the United Way of Fort McMurray is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Shannon as Executive Director effective July 28, 2008.

“We are excited to have Diane join our team states Board President, Anita Semple.  Ms. Semple goes on to state that “Diane’s vast experience with not for profit agencies and her public relations skills will be an excellent addition to the United Way.”

Ms. Shannon has over 18 years of experience in the private and not-for profit sectors.  Most recently she held the positions of Communications & Marketing Coordinator and the Volunteer Coordinator for the Edmonton Humane Society.  Ms. Shannon has also served as National President of the Association of Kinsmen & Kinette Clubs of Canada.

Contacted earlier this week, the new Executive Director stated "Fort McMurray has a long history of economic strength in Canada and the citizens and their varied needs are always at the heart of any vibrant community. I am looking forward to working with the United Way team and supporting existing programs, while exploring new opportunities for Fort McMurray."

The Board of Directors and staff look forward to working with their new Executive Director and in taking the United Way of Fort McMurray to an even higher level of growth.
