United Way Campaign Announcement

Please join us for the final tally announcement at our Volunteer Recognition event. As United Way celebrates the end of another campaign, we invite the media and community leaders to join our campaign volunteers as we mark 30 years in this community!

Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre
6:30 p.m. - Wednesday, November 25th   (presentation at 7:00 p.m)

Beginning with a modest campaign of $150,000 (which was not achieved!); in 30 years, United Way has raised $34.5 Million.  These funds have been invested to build capacity in agencies and in programs that support families, youth, seniors, and individuals suffering from illness, poverty and homelessness.

Questioned about whether the $5M goal will be reached, Jason Reimer, Campaign Co-chair, stated, “We Believe in Possibility and we believe in this community.  I am certain that revealing the much-anticipated final dollar figure will be very exciting, however, what I am most excited about is the incredible benefits that we will be able to offer to this community – that is success to us!”

With an aggressive goal of raising $5 million dollars in 2009, hundreds of volunteers from around the community have been working diligently since the annual campaign kicked off on September 10th.   Volunteers have not only collected pledge forms, but also participated in head shaving, hockey playing, pumpkin carving, entertaining, barbeques, tug-of-wars, helicopter rides, and they have flipped burgers, sliced pizza, and sold raffle tickets – all in the name of having fun while helping United Way help the community
