2009 United Way

THERMOMETER IS RISING!

The United Way encourages everyone to look up – waaay up!  Find the United Way thermometer closest to your neighbourhood and watch as the mercury rises!

Last week the first campaign preparation on these large signs began, but the exciting news is that this week the work crew has been directed by the 2009 United Way Campaign Chair, Kenny Jones, to raise the mark to 20%!

Jones stated, “The generosity of individuals and corporations in Fort McMurray continues to show that we are a very caring community that understands the importance of supporting those that may not have the same opportunities that many of us take for granted.”

“While we have set a lofty goal this year I believe in this community, I believe in the citizens and I believe in possibility” stated Jones.  “The unique campaigns and inter-department challenges being held at work sites adds to the excitement and all the fun people have raising money also generates awareness of the United Way.”

The campaign officially runs from September 10th to November 20th, 2009 and this year the United Way of Fort McMurray has set a goal of $5 million dollars to help the community.
