United Way Is Thankful!

The fact that it is the Thanksgiving weekend is not lost on the United Way!  As families prepare to give thanks, Executive Director, Diane Shannon, shared that, “Especially at this time of the year when we reflect on all that we are thankful for, we want to express that we are tremendously grateful for the generosity shown to those that don’t have the same advantages and opportunities that many of us take for granted in our lives.” 
 

The thermometer team has now been asked to raise the “temperature” levels around town to show that 50% of the 2008 campaign goal has been raised!   However, with a goal of raising $3.95 million dollars to help the community by supporting 24 different agencies, the United Way still has work to do.

“We are confident that this great success in the first half of the campaign will continue and that the generosity of individuals and corporations in Fort McMurray will once again show all of Canada what a wonderful, caring community this is” stated Shannon.

The 30th annual community campaign for the United Way of Fort McMurray officially runs from September 10th to November 14th, 2008.
